The HYBRID Sr. Mechanical Records Analyst provides analysis, support and data management of the GATX North American fleet. The scope of activities for the role include maintenance and management of documentation for GATX and regulatory agencies, monitoring data quality, providing information, solving process and data problems and answering questions both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain Mechanical Records for improvement orders.
  • Maintain and track documentation required by regulatory agencies. This includes reports associated with inspection programs.
  • Process Inbound Validation (IVP) form data received from GATX Rail Service Centers, Mini-Mobile Units and contract shops.
  • Process Mechanical Record projects such as fleet acquisitions into GATX Rail's systems, cross-reference and define arrangement drawings from car builders.
  • Work closely with the Information Technology department to continuously improve data collection and updating and support changes in data collection requirements.
  • Generate and analyze reports as required for internal and external customers. Also analyze data to identify and resolve inconsistencies in the data.
  • Assist manager with special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years industry experience
  • Must have basic understanding of data relationships. Experience in querying enterprise wide data a plus.
  • Must have railcar construction and regulatory (AAR, DOT, BOE, etc.) knowledge.
  • Basic engineering process knowledge and/or exposure to that environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Excellent organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize projects.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide customer focused technical support services.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn railcar industry’s UMLER system.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn SAP Classification – part number management and attribute definition system.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn Mechanical Record (MRP), Base Stock (BSP) and Customer Service Program Tracking (CSPTP) mainframe applications.
