The Account Manager, Inside Sales creates, pursues and maintains the assignment of full-service leases of specialty railcars to an assigned customer base. Working with the Director of Sales, they will build and maintain effective relationships with assigned and potential customers, and with internal resources, to achieve GATX's annual revenue and profitability targets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement account management strategies consistent with the operating strategies of GATX to consistently achieve defined sales targets. The typical account size managed will cover from one (1) to twenty-five (25) railcars per lease contract.
  • Uncover and respond to customers’ railcar usage needs through strategic selling and providing sales solutions to our customers.
  • Communicate sales solutions so customers understand and are influenced to lease or renew from GATX.
  • Set pricing for proposed leases and renewals to meet applicable criteria for customers and GATX.
  • Identify and act on leads to develop new customer contacts.
  • Perform with minimal supervision and relative ease all day-to-day business activities, including those related to issuing new car quotes, placing new lease assignments, and maintaining/expanding existing assignments through effective renewals.
  • Maintain and update the Customer Relationship Management System (Salesforce) as needed.
  • Gain and share industry/region-specific knowledge to better understand current and future marketplace demands.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferred – preference in Business Management, Finance or Marketing.
  • Previous working experience in sales / customer service.
  • Experience and knowledge of the rail, chemical or transportation industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated comfort in initiating contact with unknown individuals to create sales solutions or address complex customer service situations.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and effective at coping with change and making decisions without all the facts.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of financial concepts.
  • Excellent relationship building, listening, presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word (or similar office programs).
  • Previous use of a contact management software application preferred.
  • Able to independently travel; travel is limited but may be up to 10% annually.

This is a hybrid position which will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year. The employee may work remotely the balance of the time, apart from quarter and year-end close, when work is fully in-office.

Min

USD $90,400.00/Yr.

Max

USD $121,500.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
