The Billing Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely invoicing, generating over $75M annually, for multiple revenue categories including, but not limited to, monthly rent and mileage, service events performed on the fleet, foreign car service events performed by Field Services, scrap sales, and freight-related invoicing. This position may invoice for any GATX entity, as well as any future companies that GATX may acquire or manage. The Billing Specialist will also participate in process improvement initiatives and occasional special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for invoicing of end customer repairs on the fleet and foreign car events performed within the maintenance network and third-party contract shop network, as well as addressing customer questions related to their invoices.  Audit invoices for accuracy and completeness, and ensure SOX controls are met.  ~$50M Annually
  • Responsible for invoicing of miscellaneous billings for freight, scrap, parts, material, improvement orders, sale of railcars, IC sales, etc.  Coordinate with both internal and external partners to ensure accuracy and completeness of invoices.  ~$25M  Annually
  • Responsible for assisting in the monthly rental and mileage invoicing process, generating ~$500M in annual revenues.  Audit the revenue cycle for any anomalies in the revenue stream and act accordingly if revenue is not trending as expected, as dictated by SOX controls.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives as well as special projects on behalf of the Billing Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Finance, Accounting, IT
  • SAP (SD module) 2 years
  • Billing experience 5 years
  • Accounting experience 3 years
  • Customer Contact 3 years
  • Strong PC Skills (Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat)

Min

USD $59,600.00/Yr.

Max

USD $61,200.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
