The Manager position independently performs a broad range of complex financially oriented analytical activities that primarily support the decision making of the Chief Financial Officer.  Activities include developing and modeling budgets and other projections of earnings and cash flows, analyzing projected financial results, performing business valuations and presenting analysis and conclusions to senior management.  The position may have direct reports and be responsible for assisting in the development of junior FP&A staff members.

 

The individual is expected to have the knowledge, skills and experience to lead and independently complete any project that FP&A is tasked with completing, incorporating accounting, corporate finance and tax concepts.  The individual is also expected to add value to FP&A and other groups by identifying project opportunities and improving processes and analytics.  The position will have contact with members of senior management throughout the company.

Responsibilities

  • Budget/forecast – Independently manage tasks and analyses related to the Consolidated, SG&A and business segment annual budget and quarterly forecast processes. Such tasks include: 
    • Obtain and develop assumptions
    • Create, update, improve and utilize budget models
    • Coordinate and review budget submissions provided by business managers and assist with their budgeting activities when necessary
    • Consolidate inputs and analyze results
    • Summarize and present projected results and analysis to senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Other ongoing activities include:
    • Performing business valuations
    • Performing annual update of cost of capital and other inputs used in analyzing economic returns on investment projects
    • Completing long-term projections of taxable income
  • Ad hoc projects - may arise as special requests from the CFO or other departments. Past projects include:
    • Creation of pro-forma financial statements to evaluate impacts of the acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate activities on financial performance
    • Profitability analysis of GATX and businesses
    • Investment return analysis

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in auditing and/or financial analysis
  • 5+ years of in-depth experience in budgeting
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
  • Undergraduate degree or graduate coursework in corporate finance
  • MBA and CPA, is desirable
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills
  • SAP and BPC knowledge is helpful

This is a hybrid position which will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year. The employee may work remotely the balance of the time, apart from quarter and year-end close, when work is fully in-office.

Min

USD $109,100.00/Yr.

Max

USD $157,900.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
