The Sr. Field Services Maintenance Analyst is responsible for the receipt and processing of requests for mobile railcar unit (MRU) repairs throughout North America. This individual will ensure service requests are processed in accordance with GATX, customer, AAR and FRA policies and procedures. The incumbent will determine if the requested repairs can be made safely by an MRU and ensure all required documentation is provided regarding safety, GATX/regulatory compliance, and internal program work. This role will be responsible for assigning the repair to an MRU based on selection criteria.  This role will also review work content and invoices for accuracy and completeness and audit car files to validate adherence to compliance reporting and ensure appropriate certifications are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process MRU service requests from customers/Service Delivery throughout North America.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for designated locations, providing repair procedures/drawings and answering any questions or concerns the locations may have to ensure cars are repaired per GATX guidelines while meeting customer specifications.  Receive requests and document repair needs such as car number, car type, car location, reason for shopping, last known contents, loaded/empty status, SDS, proper approval/s and any customer or car owner specifications.
    • Ensure all required paperwork for performing requested repair is provided and that any MRU dispatched is properly qualified and prepared to perform the requested work.
    • Identify and notify dispatch information to affected parties.
    • Follow-up to ensure MRU has communicated, scheduled service and completed service call with the requesting party.
    • Review and authorize mobile repair estimates to ensure that proper time standards, agreements and requirements are met. Continue to simplify and improve the mobile approval process to better analyze the annual spend.  Investigate and resolve errors in the 500 byte files as well as assorted analytical and quantitative analysis of our repair process.
  • Assist Field Inspectors in conducting MRU audits to ensure repair providers are accurately providing required documentation to support the AAR requirements for the work performed and confirm that the appropriate certifications are in place. Schedule quarterly call with QA to discuss audit findings.
  • Review rejection messages and contact respective shop/FME to get error messages corrected and resubmitted BRC’s.
  • Miscellaneous tasks assisting with special projects, providing backup support for other team members, or handling tasks outside of the core job function that are necessary for the smooth operation of the department or organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or another relevant field preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Technical and fleet rail car knowledge.
  • Knowledge of railcar repair processes and procedures to include, but not limited to, AAR Field Manual repairs, valves and NDT processes.
  • Ability to assist with reading, interpreting and communicating SDS’s, AAR Field Manual rules, GATX/Customer repair procedures and drawings to MRU crews as needed.
  • Excellent Computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Data Querying, JIRA).
  • The work environment for this position will be fast paced with a high volume of transactions and diverse issues. The person in this position must be able to review BRC estimates and provide authorization in conjunction with a multitude of issues presented that require immediate attention and resolution in order to meet customer requirements and timely car repair.

USD $78,800.00/Yr.

Max

USD $98,000.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
