The Sr. Railroad Repairs Auditor will participate in GATX Rail’s railroad interchange repair billing auditing process.  Activities included are BRC (Billing Repair Card) Auditing and exception generation, execution of the CBA (Counter Billing Authority) process for audit exceptions, correspondence and management of CBA recovery, and creation of documentation for CBA invoices and associated tracking with the ability to recover approximately $0.3M to $.6M annually. This position will also review outgoing BRC’s (Billing Repair Cards) and invoicing documents, track and respond to incoming exceptions and provide CBA’s (Counter Billing Authority) to billed parties.

 

Qualified candidates who are currently Wells Fargo Rail employees will be given priority consideration over other external applicants.

Responsibilities

BRC Auditing and Manage exceptions, rejections and CBAs

  • Review and audit the monthly Billing Repair Card data for exceptions using the GATX BRC Auditing System.
  • Process the confirmed exceptions using the AAR required exception or rejection process, resulting in counter billing authority or submission of corrected invoice.
  • Maintain log to manage the status of exceptions, rejections, and CBAs for all of AAR Services group.
  • Manage the status of each exception request for AAR group post-entry.
  • Review exception responses from each railroad and communicate/negotiate with railroads to obtain resolution.
  • Generate necessary follow-up (tracer) letters corresponding to each “Counter Billing Authority” (CBA) request in a timely manner and per AAR Rules
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting on metrics related to audit and CBA’s for both incoming and outgoing invoices.

Manage and review items being sent to billing (Outgoing GATX Invoicing)

  • Review BRC’s and provide approvals prior to billing
  • Ensure all monthly billable items are tracked, reviewed and processed.
  • Coordinate with accounting and provide necessary supporting documentation for invoice creation.

Review incoming exceptions and rejections to billing issued by GATX

  • Reply to exception letters to GATX billing to Railroads and Damaging Roads.
  • Reply to rejection letters to GATX billing and if required, correct and resubmit updated invoice items
  • Provide CBAs as needed for allowed exceptions

The Sr. Railroad Repairs Auditor will need to develop and maintain positive working relationships with railroad industry management and internal groups including Customer Service, Mechanical Records, Fleet, Fleet Maintenance, Engineering, Accounting and IT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, preferably with billing/auditing railroad experience, including working with railcar repairs and experience working with AAR interchange billing rules.
  • Knowledge of AAR Rules and Procedures.
  • Strong railcar technical knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and PowerBI. 
  • Knowledge of AAR Counter Billing Authority process preferred.

Min

USD $78,800.00/Yr.

Max

USD $101,700.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
