The Maintenance Field Inspector shall be asked to perform railcar inspections on various rail car types for end of lease, secondary market sale and purchase and for legal matters. In addition, the Maintenance Field Inspector may be also be asked to perform visits to GATX owned and contract repair maintenance facilities and mobile repair units (MRUs) to qualify shops to perform maintenance activities on GATX-owned rail cars, to evaluate the quality of railcar maintenance repairs, and to review the shop’s compliance with GATX’s quality standard, cost agreements and reporting requirements.
Qualified candidates who are currently Wells Fargo Rail employees will be given priority consideration over other external applicants.
Perform field inspections of railcars being returned at end of lease from customers. Inspect/ serve as a liaison during new assignment leases, as well as inspect potential fleet acquisition cars assessing suitability of fleets.
Serve as the Rail car technical expert in the Maintenance Procurement, Quality and Engineering department, and as such provide maintenance expertise and support to the GATX Rail organization.
