The Sr. Business Analyst, Field Services is responsible for managing key aspects of the Field Services group. The incumbent will also ensure maintenance and continuity of key business processes including network coverage, training, metrics and analysis, and documentation. This individual will also manage key field service repairs throughout North America as assigned, while ensuring such repairs are in accordance with GATX, customer, AAR and FRA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage special Field Service repair projects, program work, or repair investigation as requested by Sr. Director, AAR and Field Services. This may include, but is not limited to:
    • Coordinating repairs with ASLs, contractors, 3PLs, and facilities throughout North America
    • Ensuring needed repairs can be made safely by a qualified vendor
    • Serve as the main point of contact for designated locations, providing repair procedures/drawings and answering any questions or concerns the locations may have to ensure cars are repaired per GATX guidelines while meeting customer specifications
    • Receive and fulfil requests and document repair needs such as car number, car type, car location, reason for shopping, last known contents, loaded/empty status, SDS, proper approval/s and any customer or car owner specifications
    • Ensure all required documentation, including that required for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance is received from the vendor and that any MRU dispatched is properly qualified and prepared to perform the requested work
    • Identify and notify dispatch information to affected parties
    • Follow-up to ensure MRU has communicated, scheduled service and completed service call with the requesting party
  • Manage and maintain optimal provider network coverage including:
    • Evaluating service network coverage and taking appropriate steps to approve and set up vendors and add repair capacity where needed
    • Periodically surveying contractors for changes to their network in terms of active locations, certifications, and repair capabilities
    • Coordination with Mechanical Records, IT, and QA, to ensure appropriate setup of system access as well as resolving system access issues for contractor network
    • Ensuring accuracy and ongoing maintenance of vendor information in various systems including setting up and retiring contractors, updating labor rates, updating contractor locations, updating SAP vendor numbers, setting up and managing changes to contractor shop group member list for invoice reject notifications, and maintenance of Shop Master
  • Manage and administer training for our approved contractor network and other internal GATX departments including:
    • Creating training content utilizing PowerPoint, Word, and/or Panopto and incorporating newest AAR and GATX procedures and processes
    • Administering training on multiple systems and reporting requirements as needed for new contractor locations.
  • Create and maintain metrics to facilitate analysis, decision-making, and ongoing performance monitoring of the Field Services business including maximizing the end-user and administrator interface experience in Jira and utilizing its system metrics for analyzing ticket requests and finding better usage of its features to maximize administrator’s performance.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive handbook specifically for Field Services, including best practices and instructions for all aspects of Contract Field Services including those responsibilities included in this position as well as collaborating with Manager, Field Services Repair and Senior Director, AAR and Field Services to document responsibilities and policies outside of this position.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis, assist with, and manage special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or another relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Technical and fleet rail car knowledge.
  • Knowledge of railcar repair processes and procedures to include, but not limited to, AAR Field Manual repairs, various rolling stock specifications, and NDT processes.
  • Ability to assist with reading, interpreting and communicating MSDS’s, AAR Field Manual rules, GATX/Customer repair procedures and drawings to contractors as needed.
  • Excellent Computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Data Querying).
  • Working knowledge of Power BI preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Jira software preferred.

This is a hybrid position that will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year.

Min

USD $78,800.00/Yr.

Max

USD $98,000.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
