The Benefits Analyst is primarily responsible for administering employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, parental, and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves. The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator who can effectively coordinate between employees, managers, HR business partners, and our external leave vendor to ensure a smooth and supportive leave experience. In addition to leave administration, this role will manage our tuition reimbursement program and provide support in benefits administration. The successful candidate should have the ability to multitask assignments, projects, and daily responsibilities with accuracy and a high level of comfort working with all levels of employees.

 

Qualified candidates who are currently Wells Fargo Rail employees will be given priority consideration over other external applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal administration of leaves of absence, including disability, family, military, and personal leave. Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state laws/regulations and GATX policies
  • Manage Short Term Disability leave process for US and Canadian employees. Work with third-party vendors to ensure timely approval of disability claims.
  • Work with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) to address complex leave of absence issues, including ADA accommodations, return to work scenarios, and adherence to leave of absence notice requirements
  • Oversee third-party administrator’s FMLA management process for U.S. salaried and hourly employees, ensuring that proper service and consistent legal application of FMLA regulations are applied
  • Serve as the HR department’s subject matter expert for the FMLA and ADA
  • Maintain leave and return records in PeopleSoft
  • Set up and cancel medical premium direct billing
  • Calculate and arrange for payroll deductions for unpaid premiums, if necessary
  • Manage employee/retiree death benefits, such as ensuring necessary benefit cancellation, life insurance processing, and COLI claim processing.
  • Research and respond to retiree questions submitted via the retiree voice mail benefits line
  • Solves employee and benefit plan-related issues by doing research and working directly with carriers or plan vendors
  • Manages invoice process to ensure vendor payments are timely and accurate
  • Assists with compliance testing, plan audits, and analysis of employee data and trends for the health and welfare plans, as well as the pension and 401(K)

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Resource-based or related field [Business, Psychology, etc] is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Benefit Analyst and/or client services team member for a benefits consulting firm
  • Proven ability to administer leave policies and programs
  • Experience in vendor management and administration
  • CEBS certification (or actively pursuing) is preferred
  • HR related experience is preferred

This is a hybrid position that will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year.

USD $59,600.00/Yr.

Max

USD $80,000.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.
