GATX is creating a new position for a structured finance generalist.  Immediate responsibilities will include assisting in the integration of Wells Fargo Rail and to managing the unique activities that emerge from that integration, particularly the ongoing management responsibilities of our newly created joint venture with Brookfield. The scope of these initial duties is somewhat undefined, in that the candidate will be creating activities and processes as the integration and the joint venture administration progresses. The ideal candidate will have a broad and advanced skillset in finance and operations, and a deep understanding of the overall leasing business existent at Wells Fargo Rail and GATX. Longer term, the candidate’s skillset will be leveraged to expand into other activities related to GATX’s overall business (outside the joint venture related activities).

 

Qualified candidates who are currently Wells Fargo Rail employees will be given priority consideration over other external applicants. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the integration of the Wells Fargo Rail portfolio.
    • Assist the Controller’s department to correctly book all GABX and BFLX assets.
    • Ensure that processes and tasks are correctly functioning to meet business continuation requirements.
    • Trouble shoot and problem solve on an ad hoc basis.
  • Monitor the various management and governance aspects of our GABX Joint Venture
    • Manage reporting and ongoing communication with Brookfield through collaboration with Treasury, FP&A, Accounting, Tax and Commercial departments.
    • Coordinate with Brookfield on the analysis and approval of secondary market offerings.
    • Ensure that GATX’s call options are properly executed, track equity ownership percentages, cash distributions, and monitor debt covenants.
  • Oversee various management responsibilities concerning Brookfield’s wholly owned portfolio (“BFLX”)
    • Ensure that all aspects of the Long Term Lease portfolio are addressed, including monitoring of purchase options and casualties.
    • Collaborate with GATX’s Fleet Management department regarding negotiation of any lease-end activity and relevant analysis / communication with Brookfield.
    • Coordinate with Brookfield on the analysis and approval of secondary market offerings.
    • Track / confirm appropriate receipt of management fees.
  • Report on overall status to GATX executive management
    • Assess GATX’s management performance on an ongoing basis and identify / recommend areas of improvement
  • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to pursuit of transactional opportunities related to GATX’s overall business, industry relationship management, and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelors level degree or equivalent, ideally in a financial or technical discipline. Advanced degree (Business, Finance, Accounting) and/or CFA a plus.
  • Minimum 7-10 years work experience.
  • Solid understanding of financing concepts, financial analysis, accounting and tax, and contractual concepts as they apply to financial transactions, with the ability to direct others to address specific transactional issues in those areas.
  • Track record of successful work on a team of professionals to complete projects.

Min

USD $152,300.00/Yr.

Max

USD $216,700.00/Yr.

 

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

 

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
